Project Plan

(1.1)The Define Phase
(1.11) Introduction:

This project is intended to allow class X students to explore the
following topics:
1)    To identify the major risk factors in the Vidyalaya premises.
2)    To identify the short comings in the constructional aspects of the
     existing structures.
3)    To create better awareness among students to be aware of the
      risk factors.
4)    To suggest suitable remedies to mitigate the possible occurrence
      of hazards well in advance.
5)    To provide suitable training to the students and to equip them
      with necessary survival skills and technical aids to mitigate the
      intensity of hazards.
6)    To collaborate the Vidyalaya with various departments like health, police,
       coast guards, road transport departments, NCC,fire force etc to seek
       technical assistance.
7)    To create public awareness through media/internet.
8)    To generate situations for students, teachers, parents and community
      to understand the importance of Disaster Management and to propose
      suitable suggestions through different modes of media.
9)    To seek voluntary support from parents and NGOs who are technically
      efficient in disaster management.
10)    To create a "Rapid Student Force" to attend the student on emergency
         situations and to monitor a disciplined way of the arrival and
       dispersal of the students from the road to the vidyalaya, within
       the campus and vice versa.

Project Scope:

Subjects involved: Science and social science
Students from class  X
Student research will be monitored and managed to avoid students going off track
 and out of scope.

Curriculum and Standards:

Class x social Science Curriculum topics and standards related to this project:
• Disaster management text book of class x
• Identification of vulnerable groups
• The importance of protection methods : To Identify the method for disaster mitigation
   strategies.
• Outcomes of poor  infrastructure: give examples of the possible outcomes of a poor

   infrastructure.
